If you use a Sonos Port or another Sonos device in your business, and already have Soundsuit installed as your licensed commercial music solution, you may want to prevent staff from adding personal music services such as Spotify, Deezer or others.

Short answer

At this time, Sonos does not provide a full administrator lock that blocks users from adding new music services inside the Sonos app.

If someone has access to the Sonos app and permission to manage your Sonos system, they may be able to add additional services.

Recommended Best Practices

1. Limit access to the Sonos app

We recommend installing the Sonos app only on trusted devices such as:

• Owner smartphone
• Manager tablet
• Dedicated business control device

Avoid giving all employees access to the Sonos controller app.

2. Use Soundsuit for daily music control

Once Soundsuit is connected to Sonos, staff can manage music playback directly through the Soundsuit app or dashboard, without needing to open the Sonos app.

This helps keep system settings protected.

3. Protect shared devices

If you use a shared tablet in your venue:

• Add a device PIN code
• Do not save Sonos account passwords
• Restrict access to settings apps when possible

4. Separate your Wi-Fi networks

For additional protection, place your Sonos system on a private management Wi-Fi network, and keep employee phones on guest or staff Wi-Fi.

This can reduce unauthorized access to the Sonos system.

Consumer music services such as personal Spotify or Deezer accounts are not licensed for commercial use in restaurants, shops, gyms or hotels.
